i bought this awesome dress to wear to a music festival - Stereosonic - on the weekend just past. i didnt end up wearing it cos the fear of seeing someone else in it got the better of me and i ended up chopping the sleeves off a shirt and making it sleevless - yes the shirt addiction is going strong - turned out totally cute. and original. phew. but still love this dress all the same. its by Ladakh - which is a pretty generic brand in Aust. you'll find it in most stylish boutiques around the place (thus the reason for the fear) the pic doesnt give it much justice but...

i have a front tooth that needs fixing - i need a new crown but because i had the old one put on when i was a child the gum stayed as a childs gum line whereas the rest of my teeth have an adult gum line. so to get to the point i had to have my gum cut (gingival recontouring) to match the other one (well..i didnt have to but as my dentist said "i want it to be perfect" and so do i) before i get the new crown. and while he was at it he "tidied up" my upper frenulum - the operation is known as a frenectomy - its the bit that joins the top lip to your gum in the middle. and here was the result a few hours later and a few hours spent dying on the couch in pain.

my lips look so boring without my pink lippy. but do you see what i mean about the tooth? 5 weeks of healing and i'll be ready for my new tooth! yay!

after one week of my new job as a dental assistant i am now completely and utterly obsessed with teeth. it's all i notice on a person now. like today for example - i was at the car yard and the car sales man came over and instead of giving him eye contact i was giving him teeth contact. and did he need some work done! i've become obsessive compulsive with brushing, flossing and mouth washing...one week of missing teeth, decay, fillings, extractions and root canals will definitely do that to you. im telling you...brush and floss, you only get one set of teeth.

so i got home last night and peer down my long hallway and what do i see perched upon my kitchen bench?!? it appears to be a girl...so i mosey on down there and its none other than this girl i don't really like (with good reason might i add - but i'll save that for another vent sesh). so i say my hello's and she does her over the top niceties which i do not reciprocate cos honestly i hate faking it. i peer over her shoulder to the oven...which is on...not only is it on, it also and has a large baking dish in it with something that looks incredibly like lasagna - under normal circumstances had there been a mysterious lasagna baking away in my oven i would have been overjoyed with excitement - not tonight. why? you ask...cos some girl just spent and hour in my kitchen making lasagna - the same kitchen i made lasagna in last week...the same kitchen that i make dinner in every night and shock and awe my roomies and b/f with. it's monday and for once im not hating being awake this early. i had an absolutely wonderful weekend. spent last night at the love of my life's house (no homo). she whipped up a feast fit for a queen. finally got to see the two houses her and her partner are building and saw her fabulous CHAIRS! she is obsessed with refurbishing chairs...is that the right word? refurbishing? leezy? anyway...check her out at all we ever wanted was a little bit of fun. i love her and so should you! p.s we're getting married so dont get any ideas.

smashed chicken

so i saw this being created on one of the jamie oliver's cooking shows - the one where he travels around england trying to get the town to start cooking. anyway i thought i would share it on here cos it is deeeeelicious and quick and easy. even the worst cook in the world could make this...i think. lol

so i call it smashed chicken - cos that’s exactly what you do to it...smash it.

here's the recipe from the top of my head:

30g of parmesan cheese
6 slices of prosciutto
2 skinless chicken breasts
2 sprigs of fresh thyme
Lemon
Pepper
Olive oil

ok...

so i usually rinse my chicken breasts (i dont know why or if your meant to but i do)
dry them with paper towel
lay on chopping board - smooth side down - score the inside in a criss-cross with a small knife
season with freshly ground pepper
sprinkle most of the thyme leaves
grind some lemon rind over them
and sprinkle the parmesan cheese
lay 3 slices of prosciutto over the top of each breast (it looks like too much so overlap if need be and once the chicken is smashed it will be perfect) oh and you dont need salt (even tho im addicted to salt) because the prosciutto is pretty salty as it is

and now the fun part!

lay glad wrap over them
grab a heavy based fry pan (or any smashing device) and a smash until thin (about 1/2 inch thick)

to cook:

heat fry pan to medium
remove glad wrap and lay breasts prosciutto side down - drizzle a little olive oil and sprinkle with any leftover thyme
fry for 3 mins on each side - i usually flip back to the prosciutto side and fry that for a bit longer so its nice and crisp.

serve with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over and a drizzle of oil.

(ahh and just found this is from Jamie's Food Revolution by Jamie Oliver (Hyperion)....i just wrote it the way i do it so if you want the proper recipe google it)

man i need a holiday badly. definitely hitting up Thailand again. i stumbled across all my videos from my last trip on my phone the other night and it made me remember how unbelievably fabulous it was.
